Welcome to the Hessen International Summer University in Intellectual Property & Biotechnology -Linking Law, Business and Science
Since its first edition in 2005, the Hessen International Summer University (ISU) has increasingly gained global recognition. In 2016, the faculties of Law, Business and Economics, Agricultural Sciences and Medicine of the Justus Liebig University Giessen are looking forward to host students from all over the world!
The courses, which form the academic part of our program, are not only designed to educate participants in the highly popular fields of intellectual property and biotechnology, but also to inspire them. The interdisciplinary program is designed for postgraduates, undergraduates with some basic knowledge in the area of biotechnology, and young professionals, who want to learn about the European way of dealing with the challenges of the new and developing industry. Furthermore, it is attracting for people who want to gain some first-hand experience with German and European culture. All seminars are taught in English by internationally established academics and practitioners. Furthermore, students will attend German language courses of different levels according to their previous knowledge.
The program combines high-quality teaching with a wide range of cultural and social activities. In addition to the academic courses, we offer various field trips: one on-site visit at an international biotechnology company (Merck, Bayer or BASF) , a three-day trip to Hamburg and a three-day trip to Berlin, these will add more practical elements to the content learned in class. The students will visit some of the most beautiful places in Germany during these trips. Above all, studying abroad will broaden one's horizon. Participants will gain intercultural knowledge because of the interaction with their fellow students but most important, they will spend a great time in an international environment.
We look forward to welcoming you in Giessen for the 12th Hessen International Summer University in Intellectual Property and Biotechnology 2016!
